Man Jailed for Stabbing Neighbour to Death Through Front Door Hole
Brutal Attack in Elfrida Close
On July 16, 2022, Thomas Allen kicked a hole in a neighbour’s front door in Elfrida Close and stabbed Samantha Murphy through it. The 37-year-old suffered a fatal leg wound and died instantly, despite paramedics’ best efforts.
Quick Arrest After Bloody Scene
Police arrived at around 3:10 a.m. after a call about the attack. Witnesses said Allen, the victim, and neighbours had been socialising earlier that night before a heated argument broke out. After assaulting Ms Murphy at their home, she fled to a neighbour’s house. Allen followed, forced his way in by kicking out a door panel, and stabbed her as she tried to make him leave.
Officers identified Allen immediately and caught him two hours later in Clifton Place.
Murder Conviction Secured
Following a meticulous investigation by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, Allen, 38, was charged with and found guilty of murder on January 25, 2023, at Maidstone Crown Court. His sentencing date is still to be confirmed.
Police Appeal for Abuse Victims to Speak Out
“Thomas Allen’s violent actions have robbed Ms Murphy’s loved ones of a cherished presence,” said Detective Inspector Lee Neiles. “I am relieved our officers’ swift action led to his arrest and conviction. I urge anyone experiencing abuse or violence by a partner or acquaintance to contact police immediately. We are here to protect you and ensure perpetrators face justice.”
