Brutal Murder in Elfrida Close: Woman Stabbed to Death
On the early hours of Saturday, July 16, 2022, Thomas Allen kicked a hole in his front door and stabbed Samantha Murphy through it. The 37-year-old mum suffered a fatal leg wound and died at the scene despite paramedics’ best efforts.
Quick Police Action Leads to Arrest
Officers arrived around 3:10 a.m. after emergency calls and swiftly identified Allen as the attacker. He was caught just two hours later in nearby Clifton Place. Allen, who also lives on Elfrida Close, was charged with murder following an investigation by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.
Night of Socialising Ends in Tragedy
Witnesses revealed Allen, Ms Murphy, and their neighbours had been socialising that night. An argument broke out, leading Allen to assault Samantha at their home before she fled back to the neighbour’s place.
“This was the loss of a loving presence in their lives, and I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to them,” said Detective Inspector Lee Neiles.
“I am pleased the quick response of officers led to Allen’s arrest and his eventual conviction for murder.”
