Man Found Guilty of Murdering Two Women in Sussex and Hiding Body in Kent
A jury at Hove Crown Court has found Mark Brown guilty of murdering two women in Sussex — 33-year-old Leah Ware and 34-year-old Alexandra Morgan. The chilling killings happened at a yard Brown rented at Little Bridge Farm in Westfield, near Hastings.
Horrific Murders Uncovered After Missing Person Reports
Brown, 41, denied the murders but was convicted following a painstaking investigation by Kent and Sussex Police. The probe started when Alexandra Morgan’s parents reported her missing on 18 November 2021 after she failed to come home as expected.
Alex was a devoted mother of two young children. She had met Brown through an adult services website. Extensive detective work, including analysis of ANPR, CCTV, and phone records, revealed Alex travelled from her Sissinghurst home near Cranbrook on 14 November to meet Brown at Little Bridge Farm.
Evidence showed Brown murdered Alex and burned her body in an oil drum found at a building site near Sevenoaks, where he worked. Forensic experts confirmed the remains through dental records. Brown admitted to burning Alex’s body but claimed she died after slipping and falling.
Second Victim Leah Ware Also Murdered by Brown
Police searching Brown’s van discovered prescription drugs in the name of Leah Ware. Leah, who also met Brown via an adult services site, had lived in a shipping container on Little Bridge Farm. She vanished in early May 2021, with no contact with family or friends and no activity on her accounts or phone since.
Investigators concluded Brown was the last person to see Leah alive. After her death, he tried to cover up by collecting her medication and withdrawing money from her bank and telling conflicting stories about her whereabouts. Leah’s beloved dog was found dead near the farm, a heartbreaking detail given her love for animals.
Justice for Two Families
Already in custody for Alex’s murder, Brown was charged with Leah’s murder in February 2022. After a seven-week trial, a unanimous jury found him guilty on 1 December 2022. He awaits sentencing on 13 January 2023.
“Mark Brown is an exceptionally dangerous individual who poses a significant threat to women. I am extremely pleased he has been convicted and hope Alex’s family and friends can find closure,” said Detective Chief Inspector Neil Kimber.
“No-body homicides are rare and difficult, but thanks to strong police work and cooperation, justice has been served. Leah was trusting but fell victim to Brown’s manipulation,” added Detective Superintendent Andy Wolstenholme.
