Huddersfield Police Take a Stand Against Islamophobia
The Huddersfield Neighbourhood Policing Team assures residents they will always be heard and supported after reporting incidents. This comes following a high-profile Islamophobia Awareness Month event held at Huddersfield University on November 1.

Inspector Graham Dyson led the charge, addressing a packed room that included Kirklees Council leader Cllr Shabir Pandor, Huddersfield Vicar Revd Canon Rachel Firth, and Abdul Jebar from the Huddersfield Council of Mosques. The meeting spotlighted the ongoing battle against hate crime in West Yorkshire.
West Yorkshire Police Back Victims of Hate Crime
West Yorkshire Police recognises the deep impact hate crimes have on individuals and communities alike. They are pushing hard with partners to raise awareness and encourage victims to break their silence.
Islamophobia Awareness Month, in its 12th year, highlights the contributions of Muslim communities and the pressing need to stamp out religious hatred.
Inspector Dyson’s Clear Message: Hate Crime Won’t Be Tolerated
“This was a fantastic event and a real honour for me to speak about hate crime and highlight the great work West Yorkshire Police do investigating these offences and supporting victims,” said Insp Dyson.
“Hate crime affects not just individuals but their families, friends and whole communities. It’s encouraging to see how seriously West Yorkshire Police take these crimes and how confident our communities are becoming in reporting them.
“Hate crime can never be tolerated. We will continue to robustly investigate all reports and bring offenders to justice.”
