Rail Station Horror: Man Stabs Worker After Ticket Row
Violent Attack at Bromley South Station
Damilola Fatuga, 19, went on a brutal rampage after being challenged for dodging the ticket barriers at Bromley South station. When a revenue protection officer confronted him, Fatuga flew into a violent rage, landing several punches that knocked out the worker’s front tooth.
Two other staff tried to step in. One was punched in the eye. The second was stabbed multiple times in the arm, thigh, and stomach. Miraculously, his injuries were not life-threatening.
Knife Kicked Away and Arrest Made
As chaos erupted, a fourth staff member bravely kicked the knife out of Fatuga’s hand. Police were called, and Fatuga was arrested at the scene just before 12:45pm on Monday 21 May 2021.
Guilty Verdict Delivered at Croydon Crown Court
On Tuesday 15 November, Fatuga was found guilty of Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent for the stabbing. He had already admitted to assaulting the other staff and possessing a knife. The violent thug, from Osborn Terrace, Blackheath, faces sentencing on Friday 10 February 2023.
Police Condemn Attack on Staff
“This was a shocking and disturbing attack on members of staff who were attempting to do their job,” said Superintendent Darren Malpas of British Transport Police.
“It’s very fortunate that the stabbing victim did not suffer life threatening injuries, however it could’ve easily gone the other way.”
“Our rail workers have every right to work without fear of violence. We will continue to investigate and bring offenders to justice.”
