Chelmsford Man Found Guilty of Brutal Murder

Marek Hecko, 26, of Rookes Crescent, Chelmsford, was today found guilty of murder at Chelmsford Crown Court. The victim, 44-year-old Adrian Ellingford, was fatally stabbed in the early hours of 25 July last year.

Shocking Attack Rocks Small Community

Adrian died from multiple stab wounds after a violent assault. Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe led the investigation. She said, “Adrian’s death was tragic and caused a huge shock to this small community.”

DCI Metcalfe added, “Our team acted fast, gathering evidence and taking statements. While guarding the scene, an officer was approached by Hecko, who was heavily intoxicated and hinted he knew what had happened. We quickly identified him as the main suspect and arrested him on suspicion of murder.”

Hecko was charged just three days after his arrest and held in custody. The trial began on 13 February, culminating in today’s guilty verdict. Hecko will be sentenced tomorrow, 14 March.

Victim’s Wife Pays Heartbreaking Tribute

“Adrian was my amazing husband of 17 years. He was a loving son, caring brother, loyal friend, and a truly brilliant father to our boys. Words cannot describe how I feel about the events of 25th July 2022. He was brutally ripped from our lives in a way that I still can’t comprehend or explain to our sons.”

“He was a good man, always ready to help friends and neighbours. He worked hard and volunteered regularly at the boys’ scout group. The most heartbreaking part is the impact on our two boys. They did not deserve to lose their dad like this.”

“Telling them he would never come home was the most painful moment of my life. They are only 12 and 10 years old and too young to fully understand. Adrian will miss all their milestones and achievements. No one can ever replace their dad.”

“Adrian, you will always be missed and hold a special place in our hearts. We love you forever.”

Police Praise Dedicated Investigation Team

Detective Chief Inspector Metcalfe said, “This has been a long and distressing trial for Adrian’s family. We hope today’s verdict brings some closure after an incredibly difficult time.”

“Our team tirelessly reviewed hours of CCTV and body-cam footage, dedicating hundreds of hours to building the case. I want to thank everyone involved for their dedication and hard work.”
