Man Gets Hospital Order After Brutal Killing of Homeless Man in North Finchley

Jermaine Myers Admits Manslaughter

Jermaine Myers, 37, of Woodhouse Road, N12, was handed a Section 37 hospital order at the Old Bailey on Monday, 13 March. He had earlier pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility for the death of Nicholas Sutin.

Attack Caught on CCTV

The horrifying assault happened around 4am on 27 May 2022. Police and ambulance crews rushed to High Road, North Finchley, following reports of a disturbance.

They found Nicholas, a homeless man, suffering from stab wounds and brutal head injuries near a bench by the Tally Ho pub. Despite emergency efforts, he was declared dead at the scene.

Myers, armed with a knife, stabbed Nicholas twice before smashing a concrete slab onto his head, causing catastrophic injuries.

Swift Police Action and Evidence

  • Forensic tests on the concrete slab linked Myers to the crime.
  • He was arrested the next day at his nearby home on Woodhouse Road.
  • CCTV footage captured the entire attack and Myers coming and going from the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Speaks Out

“The level of violence inflicted on Nicholas was significant and sustained, leaving him no chance of survival,” said Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.

“Myers was a stranger to Nicholas, who showed no behaviour that could have provoked this attack.

“This is the final step in the judicial process. I hope the outcome helps Nicholas’s family find some closure after this horrific tragedy.”
