Knife Rampage After Barrow Nightclub Spat

Darren Knowles, 50, from Anson Street, Barrow-in-Furness, has been locked up at Preston Crown Court. On 24 March, he was found guilty of wounding with intent, attempted wounding with intent, breaching a non-molestation order, and carrying a bladed weapon in public.

The violent incident unfolded just after 4:20am on 20 November 2022, when Cumbria Police were called to reports of a stabbing on Dalkeith Street, Barrow. Court heard Knowles pulled a knife during a row outside Manhattan’s nightclub, plunging it into the victim’s shoulder and leaving a deep cut.

Detective Condemns Knife Crime

“We are pleased that Darren Knowles has received a custodial sentence for this senseless act of violence,” said Detective Constable Sarah Knight.

“Although the injuries were less severe than initially feared, the impact on the victims will be long-lasting.”

“Knife crimes are treated with the utmost seriousness by police and the courts, and we hope this sentence sends a strong message.”

“There is no excuse for carrying a knife. We will not tolerate it in our communities.”
