Oxford Student Jailed for Raping 15-Year-Old After Social Media Sting
Kemar Jordan, 23, of Arnold Road, Oxford, was found guilty of raping a 15-year-old girl after a seven-day trial at Oxford Crown Court. The unanimous verdict was handed down on Thursday, 26 November.
Hunting Victim Online Before Attack
The ordeal began at around 3pm on 17 April 2017, when Jordan met his teenage victim on social media. He then lured her back to his student flat, where he committed the horrific offence.
Swift Arrest and Thorough Investigation
Jordan was arrested the very same day. A detailed and painstaking investigation followed, including the analysis of complex digital and forensic evidence. He was formally charged on 15 January this year.
Detective Praises Victim’s Bravery
“This was a lengthy investigation in which forensic evidence was found which helped to bring Jordan to justice,” said Detective Constable Jamie Macaro of Oxford CID.
“Jordan had been trawling social media for his victim, and this was a dreadful offence.”
“I would like to praise the victim for coming forward initially, and for her patience and dignity throughout the investigation and trial.
“She showed enormous courage giving evidence in court.”
“Jordan is a predatory offender. He will serve a lengthy prison sentence and an additional four years on licence after release.”
“I hope his victim can eventually move on and put this nightmare behind her.”
