Drug Dealer and Blackmailer Banged Up for Over Five Years

George Austin-Bohan, 28, from Tower Hamlets, was slammed with a hefty five years and three months behind bars at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 24 February. The sentence covers a raft of serious crimes.

Crimes That Caught Him

  • Possession of Class A drugs (cocaine and MDMA) with intent to supply
  • Possession of Class B drugs (Ketamine and Cannabis) with intent to supply
  • Three counts of blackmail
  • Malicious communications
  • Distribution of indecent images of children

On top of jail, Austin-Bohan was slapped with a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and must sign the Sex Offender’s Register for 10 years.

Sinister Online Blackmail Revealed

Austin-Bohan pleaded guilty back in November 2022. Between 2018 and 2020, he threatened two women online, demanding cash by blackmailing them with indecent images of a child he had obtained without their knowledge. The case was reported to the National Crime Agency and then handed over to the Metropolitan Police’s Online Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation unit.

He also pressured another woman by telling her private sexual images were posted online, directing her to Reddit, and forcing her to send more explicit images in exchange for removal.

Major Drug Bust Nets £15,000 Worth of Class A and B Drugs

In September 2022, officers raided an address in Tower Hamlets (E14). They seized drugs worth an estimated £10,000–£15,000 and over £7,000 in cash. Austin-Bohan and a 24-year-old male, Mustafa Karakaya, were arrested on the spot.

Karakaya, who pleaded guilty to possession of Class B drugs, received a 12-month suspended sentence.

PC Lindsey England, investigating officer, said: “The offences committed are vile and have been truly distressing for the victims. Austin-Bohan hid behind multiple social media accounts and denied his involvement during the investigation.

“This case took extensive digital forensic work. Without the victims’ bravery, Austin-Bohan would have evaded justice. I hope this sentence brings them some closure. Online sexual offences are deeply damaging, and I urge anyone affected to report crimes to the police. Victims will be supported.”
