Jordan Wall Jailed for 12 Years for Rape and Fatal Crash

Jordan Wall, 25, from Eynsham, was slammed with a 12-year prison sentence at Oxford Crown Court yesterday (26 April). He also faces a six-year driving ban and must pass an extended driving test before hitting the road again.

Found Guilty of Rape After Brutal Attack

A jury unanimously convicted Wall of rape on 22 March following a gruelling seven-day trial. The attack happened in the early hours of 18 September 2019, when Wall broke into a home in Carterton and sexually assaulted the victim.

Wall was first charged with rape on 15 March 2021.

Deadly Police Chase Ends in Tragedy

Wall also pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving after a horrific crash in Witney on 11 July 2020. Driving his white Ford Transit van with passenger Matthew Hammonds, 25, Wall was reported by multiple witnesses for erratic driving and running red lights.

An intense police pursuit ended when the van sped through a red light, crashed through railings, and hit a tree on Thorney Leys. Hammonds suffered fatal head injuries and died at the scene.

Wall fled on foot but was caught nearby. He failed breath and drug tests, testing positive for cannabis and cocaine, and refused a blood sample.

Officers Speak Out on Shocking Crimes

Detective Constable Grahame Lea, leading the rape investigation, said: “After a lengthy investigation, I’m pleased justice has been served. The victim showed incredible courage and resilience throughout, despite Wall showing no remorse.”

“I thank the victim for her strength and hope she can now move on with her life.”

DC Lyndsey Blackaby, who investigated the fatal crash, said: “This tragic incident claimed a young man’s life and my thoughts remain with his family.”

“Wall and his passenger weren’t wearing seatbelts, and Wall was speeding while under the influence — ticking three of the ‘fatal four’ risk factors.”

“I urge everyone: never drive after drinking or taking drugs, and always stick to speed limits to avoid fatal consequences.”
