Baby Left with 29 Fractures in Shocking Abuse Case
McCauley Silverthorne, 25, was found guilty of causing or allowing serious harm to a baby after a chilling trial at Portsmouth Crown Court. The hearing, which started in February, ended with Silverthorne sentenced to 5½ years behind bars on 7 July.
Horrific Injuries Revealed
The grim case began when the infant was rushed to hospital on 13 March 2019. Doctors quickly discovered fractured ribs and serious head injuries. Social Services alerted the police, sparking a major investigation.

- Four breaks were to the legs, the rest mainly ribs
- Experts ruled all injuries as non-accidental
Police Praise Relentless Investigation
“This was a truly horrific case involving a very young and vulnerable baby. The catalogue of serious and shocking injuries inflicted, including those to the child’s head has led to a long-term risk to their health,” said Detective Superintendent Liam Davies.
