Burglary Attempt at Elderly Woman’s Home Ends in Jail
In the early hours of 18 June, 50-year-old Steven Christopher Sharp sneaked into a garden on Row Wood Lane but was caught red-handed by the elderly occupant. The woman, in her 80s, spotted Sharp at her back door. He panicked and fled through the garden, leaving behind an open bedroom window he had tried to use to break in.
Three Years Behind Bars for Burglar
Sharp, from Tukes Avenue, Gosport, faced Portsmouth Crown Court on Friday, 1 October. He admitted burglary and was handed a three-year prison sentence.

“Burglary is a serious offence which leaves people feeling incredibly vulnerable and unsafe in their own homes,” said DC Dermot McBride of Operation Hawk. “While nothing was stolen this time, Sharp’s intentions were clear, and his actions deeply unsettled this elderly woman.”
