Michael Kettlewell jailed for over three years
Michael David Kettlewell, 39, from Hartlepool, was sentenced to three years and two months in prison at Teesside Crown Court on Wednesday 8th November. The brutal attack happened back in January and left his victim traumatised.
Knife threats and strangulation during shocking attack
On 27th January, Kettlewell launched a horrifying assault on a woman, strangling her and threatening to kill her with a knife. Trapped and unable to call the police, the victim managed to send a message to a family member who dialled for help.
Police praise victim’s courage and issue warning
Detective Constable Genyfer Smith said: “The victim has suffered immeasurably, not just physically but emotionally and psychologically. I want to commend her and the witnesses for their bravery and support during the investigation.”
Kettlewell is also slapped with a ten-year restraining order.
DC Smith added: “Violence against women and girls remains a key focus for Cleveland Police. We urge anyone affected to report incidents online or by calling 101. We provide support and work hard to bring offenders to justice.”
