Joyride Ends in Tragedy: Two Dead After High-Speed Crash in Tebworth
Jordon White, 20, was clocking speeds in a black Vauxhall Corsa along Toddington Road, Tebworth, with four passengers packed inside around 3.20pm on January 18. What happened next was a deadly mess.
Death-Defying Overtake Ends in Disaster
Witnesses say White overtook another car at breakneck speed, narrowly missing a head-on collision before losing control and smashing into a tree. Two passengers and White himself scrambled out and bolted across nearby fields.
Manhunt and Heartbreak
- One passenger was found nearby.
- White and another survivor were caught hiding in a garden shed, thanks to a police dog.
- Tragically, Ellie Ogden-Hooper, 19, and Reece White, 23, died instantly at the scene.
Investigations revealed White was driving illegally on a provisional licence, in a car with no MOT or insurance, and using cloned number plates. Tests also found he was over the legal cannabis limit.
Justice Served: Jail and Driving Ban
White, from Wallis Drive, Leighton Buzzard, admitted to two counts of causing death and two of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. St Albans Crown Court handed down a six-year prison sentence. On top of that, he faces a nine-year driving ban after release.
