Barking Man Jailed for Reckless Car Attack in Street Brawl
Bristan William, 20, of Park Avenue, Barking, has been sentenced after admitting to two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of dangerous driving.
Drive-By Mayhem During Late-Night Fight
William was spotted leaving a club alone around midnight and heading east on Leadenhall Street, where a street brawl was underway between two groups of men.
He drove his car straight into the crowd, hitting one man before doing a three-point turn and threatening the group again. Although most dodged, William made a final, chilling turn and targeted two men trying to flee.
Victims Suffer Serious Injuries
- One victim was hurled into the air and smashed against a building, suffering a dislocated shoulder, fractured nose, and three spinal fractures.
- The second was thrown across the car’s bonnet and roof, then propelled 100 yards down the road, ending up with a torn knee ligament.
Police Track Down Vehicle and Arrest William
CCTV lost sight of William’s car after the attack, but ANPR cameras spotted it at 12:16am on 27 July 2022, as he headed home. Officers traced the vehicle to a site in Wickford, Essex, where it was recovered and forensically examined. Debris found at the scene matched the car.
William was arrested on 4 August 2022 and charged.
Detective Constable Jon Forster, Major Crime Team, said: “This dangerous individual will be off the streets for a long while.”
William faces a five-year driving ban once released.
