Serial Burper Banned from Emergency Line After 80+ Nuisance Calls
Rhys Pilott, 28, from Peterborough, is back behind bars after abusing the 999 emergency line with more than 80 burp-filled hoax calls. Previously arrested for causing a public nuisance, he was freed early for good behaviour — only to start the pranks again.
Emergency Line Blocked by Burp Prankster
Cambridgeshire Police revealed Pilott repeatedly dialled 999 and deliberately belched at call handlers, disrupting service. In one outrageous spree, he rang 24 times in just 45 minutes, jamming the emergency line and preventing genuine calls from getting through.
Jailed Again for Public Nuisance
Pilott was arrested five times for the hoax calls and finally charged in October this year. Admitting the offence at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court, he was sentenced to six months behind bars on 23 November, putting an end to his burp-fuelled phone chaos — for now.
