Taxi Boss Gunned Down in Family Feud Ambush
Akeel Hussain played a key role in the planned shooting of Mohammed Haroon Zeb outside his home in Queens Cross. Known as Haroon, the 39-year-old taxi firm manager was blasted in the head in the early hours of 31 January 2021 and later died in hospital.
Evidence Links Hussain to Murder Plot
Investigators pieced together phone records and social media posts to expose Hussain’s part in the attack. The 23-year-old from Dudley had himself been hit by a car just weeks earlier but still helped orchestrate the deadly ambush. Two other men, who fired the fatal shot from a stolen Volkswagen Golf on false plates, were jailed for 60 years earlier this year.
Hussain Convicted of Manslaughter
Following a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court, Hussain was found guilty of manslaughter on 14 November. Already in custody for violent disorder and possession with intent to supply, Hussain will be sentenced on 1 December.
Co-Conspirator to Face Justice
Mohammed Rafiq, 22, also from Dudley, was caught after trying to hide the getaway car in Telford. Convicted of attempting to pervert the course of justice, Rafiq is also due for sentencing on 1 December.
