Zack Coleman Sentenced After Attempted Murder of Former Partner in Leicester
Zack Coleman believed he had killed his ex in a terrifying attack on December 3, 2019. Just after the incident, the 26-year-old sent messages to a family member claiming he thought she was dead. When cops arrested him about an hour later, he desperately asked if she was still alive.
The Shocking Attack
The attack happened on Sturdee Road, Leicester. After the assault, Coleman fled in his Ford Kuga to nearby Blaby, where police eventually caught him.
Trial and Conviction
On January 15, following a trial at Leicester Crown Court, Coleman was found guilty of attempted murder. He had already admitted breaching a restraining order in an earlier hearing.
Sentenced to Serve and Restricted for Life
At his sentencing hearing on April 19, Coleman was handed a significant jail term. Along with prison time, he must serve an extended five-year licence and is slapped with an indefinite restraining order banning any contact with the victim.
“I am pleased that Coleman is now serving a significant sentence for what was undoubtedly a planned attempt to take the life of his former partner,” said Detective Constable Kerry Washington of the Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit (DAIU).
“Before it happened, he sent messages suggesting he would run someone over – and after the attack, admitted he believed he’d killed her. I hope this sentence gives the victim peace to move on with her life.”
