Hackney Man Convicted of Brutal Rape and Assault
Six Counts of Rape
Pascal Jombla, 45, from Amhurst Road, Hackney, was found guilty at Wood Green Crown Court on Wednesday, 8 November. He faces six counts of rape and two counts of actual bodily harm. Sentencing is set for 30 March 2023.
Horrific Attack Inside His Home
The court heard how Jombla dragged his victim into his house and subjected her to a sustained, terrifying assault. She was repeatedly raped and brutally assaulted during the ordeal.
The terrified victim was warned she would be killed if she told anyone.
Rescue by Stranger After Jombla Sleeps
Jombla eventually fell asleep, giving the victim, who suffers from mobility issues, a chance to shout for help from the front doorway. A passerby heard her cries and called 999.
Police arrived to find the woman battered with injuries to her face and extensive bruising over her body. She was rushed to hospital where doctors confirmed she had a fractured lower back due to the attack.
Justice on the Horizon
Jombla was arrested, charged, and remanded in custody following the horrific incident.
Detective Constable Jean-Luc Argent said: “The victim continues to suffer the psychological effects of what was a truly despicable assault. She is a vulnerable woman who was incapable of defending herself against the callous and merciless actions of Jombla. He now faces a substantial amount of time behind bars, where he belongs.”
