Predator Roger Ashcroft Jailed for Six Years After Abusing Girl Under 13
Multiple Attacks Across Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire
Roger Ashcroft, 35, targeted a vulnerable girl on several occasions at two separate homes in Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire. The abuse only came to light when the brave victim confided in a school teacher.
Denial Falls Flat as Jury Finds Ashcroft Guilty
Despite denying all charges during police interviews, Ashcroft was arrested by Nottinghamshire Police and charged with multiple offences. A jury at Nottingham Crown Court found him guilty of six counts of sexually assaulting a girl under 13 by touching.
Six-Year Prison Term and Lifetime Sex Offender Registration
Ashcroft, from Hereford Road, Doncaster, was sentenced yesterday at Nottingham Crown Court. He faces six years behind bars and a lifelong place on the sex offenders’ register. Additionally, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order bans him from entering households with girls under 18 or making undue contact with them.
Police Praise Victim’s Courage
“Ashcroft was responsible for an appalling catalogue of sexual abuse over a period of more than six years,” said Detective Sergeant Mark Kimberley.
“But for the bravery of his victim in coming forward, his offending might have gone undiscovered and unpunished. This abuse can leave lifelong scars. I’m pleased Ashcroft has been punished and will be closely monitored after prison.”
“This case shows what can be achieved when victims find the courage to speak out. We will listen, investigate, and fight for justice.”
