Nathan Nash Jailed for Sex Assault on Birkenhead Train Station

Nathan Nash, 30, from Eastham, Wirral, has been locked up for 12 months after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a young woman at Birkenhead Park station. He was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, 16 December.

Disturbing Assault at Birkenhead Park

On 14 April, Nash approached a 20-year-old woman waiting for her train. He tried to start a conversation, but when the train arrived, he sat next to her and sexually assaulted her, making inappropriate remarks. The victim protested and asked him to leave her alone.

Shock Follow to Victim’s Workplace

When the train reached Wallasey Grove station, Nash didn’t stop. He followed the terrified woman to her place of work, even offering her his coat and making further propositions. The victim quickly alerted her colleagues, who forced Nash to leave and reported the ordeal to the police.

Justice Served – and a Restraining Order

Alongside his jail sentence, Nash must pay £156 compensation to the victim and will face a five-year restraining order banning any contact with her. This also bans him from going near her home, workplace, or local stations.

Investigating officer DC Juliet Thomas said: “This ordeal left the victim, a young woman, shaken and terrified. For Nash to then follow her to a place she felt safe has had huge implications for her.”

“She has shown incredible bravery in supporting this investigation and thankfully Nash is now behind bars. I hope the restraining order helps her recover.”
