Bloke Threatens Cashier with Pickaxe

Police have slammed out CCTV snaps of a man wanted for a brazen robbery at a Portsmouth Co-op. Just after 9.30pm on Saturday, February 25, the suspect marched up to the till on London Road and pulled out what’s believed to be a small pickaxe. He snarled threats at the cashier before grabbing around £300 in cash and smashing the store’s landline phone.

Tall, Slim, and Covered Up

The thief is described as white, slim, and a towering 6ft 2ins tall. He hid his face and head under a light grey scarf-like garment. He rocked mismatched gloves, black trainers with white soles, and a black t-shirt with a standout design on the front. A black rucksack hung from his back.

Police Plead for Witnesses

Detective Constable Michael Strangeway said: “We want to speak to anyone at the Co-op between 9pm and 9.35pm that night. Did you see anyone matching this description, inside or nearby? Any suspicious behaviour could help us.”

“If you recognise the man in these CCTV images, please get in touch. He may hold the key to our investigation.”
