Police Hunt Masked HSBC Ram Raider After Bizarre Bank Smash
Police have unveiled a photo of one of three men who rammed a Vauxhall Astra into an HSBC bank on Lower Northam Road before stealing cash. The trio, all white and dressed in dark clothes and balaclavas, rushed inside after the smash just before 10.30am last Wednesday.
Masked Gang Strike Fast and Flee in Stolen Audi
Once inside the bank, the raiders grabbed cash from behind the till. They didn’t hang about and reportedly jumped into a white Audi A3 – a 15-plate model – leaving the Vauxhall Astra at the scene. The Audi sped off towards the roundabout at the end of Lower Northam Road.
Police Appeal After Stolen Car Linked to Robbery
Detective Constable Steve Roman urged anyone who recognises the suspect or saw the gang to get in touch immediately. He said:
“If you recognise this man or think that you saw him in the area on the day of the robbery, we want you to contact us. You could hold vital information that could assist us with this investigation.”
Key Clues: CCTV and Abandoned Beer Barrel
- Police released CCTV images of the two cars approaching the bank.
- A steel beer barrel was left behind at the scene, suggesting a ram raid tactic.
- The white Audi was found abandoned in Havendale, Hedge End on Thursday night.
- The car was reported stolen in Liverpool last September.
