Threats, Violence and Jail: Mark Kirk Locked Up for Stalking and Assault
Chilling Threats and Hammer at Work
Mark Kirk, 40, sent a barrage of threatening messages to a woman, vowing to stab her and ruin her life. When police arrived at her workplace on 3 October 2022, they found Kirk with a hammer stuffed in his waistband. The grim discovery added weight to the chilling threats he’d made.
Violent Past: Assault on Woman’s Family Member
Just days before, on 24 September 2022, Kirk attacked a family member of the same woman. He spat at her and jabbed a key into her cheek – a brutal assault that shocked the community.
Justice Served at Nottingham Crown Court
Kirk, from Chewton Street, Eastwood, was jailed for 22 months on 15 December 2022. He was found guilty of:
- Two counts of stalking involving fear of violence
- One count of assault by beating
- One count of controlling behaviour
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery
“I’d like to commend this woman for her bravery throughout the ordeal Kirk subjected her to,” said Detective Constable Rachel Staley of Nottinghamshire Police. “I hope it brings her comfort that he is now behind bars.” “Keeping women safe and supporting victims of this unacceptable behaviour are priorities for the force. We take reports like this incredibly seriously.”
Nottinghamshire Police urges victims of harassment and their loved ones to report incidents early. Officers and partner organisations stand ready to listen and support.
