Man in His 30s Dies in Sunderland Road Christmas Night Tragedy
Just before 11.20pm on Christmas Day, emergency services rushed to Sunderland Road after the ambulance service reported a serious injury. Officers discovered a man in his 30s gravely hurt at the scene.
Paramedics battled to save him, but the man tragically died there and then. Specialist family liaison officers are now supporting his next of kin through this heartbreaking ordeal.
Murder Investigation Underway, Suspect in Custody
Police have launched a murder investigation into the incident. A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody as officers comb the area for clues.
Detective Chief Inspector Angela Hudson said: “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this truly devastating time. A full investigation is underway into what led to this tragic incident.”
“All parties are believed to be known to each other and there is no wider threat to the public. Officers remain in the area as they continue their investigation.”
