Man Found Dead in East London Street – Police Launch Murder Probe
Just after midnight on Wednesday, October 19, police were called to Kirton Gardens, E2, after a concerned passerby reported a man’s welfare. Officers arrived to find a 47-year-old man dead at the scene. Formal identification is pending, and a post-mortem will be carried out soon.
Crime Scene Sealed as Police Launch Investigation
Scotland Yard’s Specialist Crime Command have taken over, setting up a crime scene and working urgently to trace the victim’s next of kin. No arrests have been made yet.
Detective Chief Insp. Pleads for Witnesses
“My thoughts are with the family and friends of this man and we will do everything we can to support them in this difficult time,” said Detective Chief Inspector Neil John.
He urged anyone with information to step forward, stressing:
“The investigation is at an early stage. We are determined to find out what happened and who’s responsible. Even the smallest details could help.”
He specifically appealed to drivers with dash cams who were in Kirton Gardens and Chambord Street between 4:30pm and 5:30pm on Saturday, October 15.

Detective John acknowledged the terror violent crimes cause but vowed, “My team is focused on catching those who harm others and bringing them to court.”
