Murder Suspect Held After Fatal Assault in Maidstone

Man Charged with Murder and ABH

Lance Colston, 36, has been remanded in custody after being charged with the murder of 55-year-old Jason Orwin. The deadly attack happened on Friday 31 July in Maidstone.

Colston, from Tonbridge Road, appeared at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on Monday 3 August and is set to face Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday 5 August.

Second Man Also Injured

The Crown Prosecution Service has also approved charges of actual bodily harm against Colston after a second man was hurt during the same incident at Bower Place.

Oliver Watts, 33, also from Tonbridge Road, has been charged with ABH in connection with the attack. He appeared at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on 3 August and was remanded to the Crown Court hearing on 5 August.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Kent Police were called at 6.38pm on 31 July after reports of two men being assaulted. Jason Orwin was airlifted to a London hospital but sadly died from his injuries.

The second victim, a man in his 30s, was treated at the scene for his injuries.
