Man Caught With Disturbing Child Abuse Images After Admitting ‘Problem Got Out of Control’
Bradley Sedgeman, 25, was busted with 25 indecent images of children while living at home with his parents, Plymouth Crown Court heard. The shop worker told cops he knew he had a problem that “had got out of control”.
Admits to Downloading Horrific Pictures
Sedgeman pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing indecent images, including ten in the most serious category showing children being raped by adults. Police traced the images to an IP address at his family home in Whitleigh. When officers raided the property on September 12, 2018, Sedgeman immediately handed over his devices and took full responsibility.
Help Sought Before Arrest but Images Not Deleted
His barrister revealed Sedgeman had reached out to a support group before the police swooped, though he hadn’t deleted the vile pictures. “He was very sorry and wanted help to fix his issues,” said prosecutor Katie Churcher. Sedgeman’s family and employers have supported him over the last two years.
Community Order and Monitoring to Follow
Recorder Robert Bright handed down a three-year community order with sex offender treatment. He accepted Sedgeman had stopped downloading images before the police visit, but search terms on his laptop showed a deliberate hunt for the content.
Sedgeman was also given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, letting police monitor his internet use for five years. He must sign the Sex Offender Register for the same period.
