PC Luke Hunt Sacked for Racist Comments Made Off-Duty

PC Luke Hunt, part of the North East Command Unit, has been dismissed for making racist remarks towards a colleague. The misconduct hearing found his behaviour breached professional standards on authority, respect, discreditable conduct, and equality.

Racist Incident at Social Event

The damaging comments were made during a social gathering on 27 January 2022, while Hunt was off-duty. The hearing, held from 6 to 8 November, concluded his actions amounted to gross misconduct.

Zero Tolerance on Racism, Says Chief Superintendent

“We expect all of our officers to uphold our high standards of behaviour, when they are both on and off-duty. We have also made it very clear that there is no place for racism in the Met. We do not accept conduct of this nature which undermines confidence in our organisation and so it is only right that PC Hunt has been dismissed.” – Chief Superintendent Simon Crick, North East Command Unit
