Guildford Drug Dealer Slammed Behind Bars for Over Four Years
A notorious drug dealer has been locked up after police caught him red-handed in Guildford. Edward Chapman, 23, homeless and on the run, was nabbed in a covert operation on June 4, 2020.
Suspected Deal in Small Car Park
Plain-clothed officers spotted Chapman behaving suspiciously in a small car park off The Mount. Riding as the rear passenger in a taxi, he was seen passing what looked like drugs to known users.
Police swooped and searched him, uncovering a mobile phone, a burner phone, a small bag of white powder, and a hefty £640 in cash.
Chapman Caught with Class A Drugs
Charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, Chapman threw in the towel and pled guilty when he appeared in court on August 3.
Last Friday (October 21), Guildford Crown Court sentenced him to a hefty 4 years and 2 months behind bars for dealing cocaine.
Police Praise Public for Helping Crack Down on Dealers
“Chapman’s arrest and conviction shows the proactive work Surrey Police are doing daily to tackle drug crime across the county,” said investigating officer PC Adam Grindlay.
“We urge the public to report even minor signs of drug activity – like the smell of weed or strangers visiting a property late at night. These tips help us piece together the bigger picture and bring criminals like Chapman to justice.”
Surrey Police promise to keep stepping up the fight against drug supply networks. With community help, more dealers will face the full force of the law.
