Serial Shoplifter Nabbed After Raiding Marks & Spencer Twice
Spirit Thief Strikes Twice in Lewisham
Christopher Armour, 46, made a booze run from his Ennersdale Road home to Marks & Spencer’s town centre store – twice in one week. On March 15 and again on March 17, he slyly stuffed bottles of whisky into his jacket and stormed out without paying.
Police Track Down and Arrest Armour
Tunbridge Wells Community Policing Team acted fast after the second heist, scouring nearby Calverley Grounds where they caught Armour red-handed. They recovered three stolen bottles of whisky and promptly arrested him.
Jail Time for Persistent Offender
Armour didn’t get off lightly. Charged with two counts of theft and breaching a suspended sentence, he was hauled before Medway Magistrates’ Court on March 18. He pled guilty and was slammed with a 173-day prison sentence – almost six months behind bars.
Sergeant Kavanagh Hits Out at Shoplifters
“Criminals like Christopher Armour travel across Kent and the South East just to shoplift. It’s never a victimless crime and hits businesses hard. That’s why we deploy plain clothes officers to catch these thieves in the act,” said Sergeant Ed Kavanagh.
Kent Police Boost Shop Theft Prevention
Kent Police is teaming up with local retailers through the Shop Safe scheme. The programme provides radios so shops can quickly alert each other and police about suspicious activity, helping crack down on shoplifting in the area.
