Ramsgate Knife Thug Jailed for Terrorising Teens
A Ramsgate man has been locked up for five-and-a-half years after threatening four teenage boys with a kitchen knife. Jake Milner-Homewood, 25, pulled the blade after demanding drugs on Ramsgate High Street on the night of February 18, 2019.
Knife-Wielding Robber Targets Teen Boys
Milner-Homewood first approached a 14-year-old boy, asking if he had “powder or weed.” When the boy said no, Milner-Homewood grew aggressive and brandished a large kitchen knife from his jacket pocket.
The youngster fled and ran past three other teens, aged 15 to 17, standing by a cash machine. Milner-Homewood then confronted them, again demanding drugs before pulling out the knife and ordering them to hand over their wallets, cash, and bikes.
Fortunately, the older boys ran off and reported the terrifying ordeal to Kent Police.
Caught on CCTV and Sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court
Milner-Homewood denied the charges but was identified from CCTV footage. A jury found him guilty of four counts of attempted robbery and one count of possessing an offensive weapon.
He was sentenced on March 5, 2020, at Canterbury Crown Court.
Detective Calls Out ‘Cowardly’ Attack
“Jake Milner-Homewood acted like a coward when he deliberately targeted victims who were younger than he was, using a large kitchen knife in a failed attempt to intimidate them into giving him their belongings,” said Detective Constable Sarah Copeland.
“Knife crime is completely unacceptable and anyone who uses a blade to carry out an offence can expect to receive a custodial sentence just like Milner-Homewood’s.”
“His actions left four innocent teenagers fearing for their safety and I am glad the jury saw fit to convict him for these very serious offences.”
