Shoplifter and Racist Thug Banned from Canterbury Centre
Kieron Carter, 29, has been locked up after a shocking spree of racially aggravated assault and shoplifting in Canterbury.
One Year Behind Bars and Two-Year Bans
The no fixed abode yob appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on April 19, admitting racially aggravated assault causing actual bodily harm, plus 12 counts of theft.
He was jailed for one year. On top of that, a Criminal Behaviour Order bans him from Canterbury city centre for two years. A restraining order also stops him from entering Tesco Express on New Dover Road for the same period.
Violent Outburst After Refusing to Leave
Between July and September 2022, Carter repeatedly shoplifted from Tesco. On July 25, he refused to leave a restaurant’s outside seating area without ordering a thing.
When staff asked him to move on, Carter launched a racist tirade. He even tried to headbutt a member of staff before slapping him in a violent outburst.
Firm Warning from Police
Inspector Paul Stoner from Canterbury’s Community Safety Unit said: “My officers are determined to protect Canterbury’s businesses and their staff from repeat offenders like Carter.”
“I hope the jail term and court orders give traders some peace of mind. We will keep working to bring offenders to justice and take robust action when needed.”
