An 80-year-old man was left battered and bruised after a violent robbery by a ruthless thug who stormed into his home. The victim, along with a woman in her 90s, had never met the attacker before the terrifying ordeal.
During the struggle, the elderly man fell to the floor and was kicked twice in the head. Morris then demanded money from the elderly woman before snatching her purse and fleeing the scene.
Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest
Officers quickly arrived on the scene and treated the man’s facial injuries. CCTV footage helped identify the culprit, 48-year-old Morris, who has no fixed address. He was arrested the very next day.
Morris pleaded guilty to robbery at Maidstone Crown Court. On Friday 30 June, he was slapped with an eight-year jail term, plus an extra four years on licence once released.
Detective Praises Quick Work
“Morris targeted two vulnerable pensioners thinking he could steal their cash without fear of arrest. In fact, an elderly victim resisted him when he forced his way in and, on running from the address, he was caught on CCTV,” said PC Ashleigh Fell of Maidstone CID.
“Local officers were quick to recognise him on the footage and following a prompt arrest this violent man has quite rightly been brought to justice.”
