Predator Kieron Chapman Jailed for Child Sex Abuse
Kieron Chapman, 30, from William Street, has been sentenced at Doncaster Crown Court for engaging in sexual contact with an underage girl.
Groomed Victim After Befriending Her Online
Chapman first contacted the girl via text in April 2017. Over the next few months, he persuaded her to visit his home five or six times, where sexual offences took place. The girl was just 11 years old.
Police Act After Disturbing Text Message
The abuse came to light when someone saw a troubling text from the victim on Chapman’s phone and tipped off South Yorkshire Police. Officers arrested Chapman at a Sheffield address on 5 July 2017.
Despite denial, Chapman was found guilty of engaging in sexual activity with a child.
Investigator Praises Victim’s Courage
“This sentence is the result of good work from officers in bringing to justice a sexual offender,” said Alyshea Sharp of South Yorkshire Police’s Protecting Vulnerable People team.
“We will continue to proactively seek out offenders and prevent them from harming more victims. We also commend the bravery of the victim in assisting the investigation.”
