Million-pound haul of stolen power tools recovered after clever tracker leads cops to thieves’ stash
Tracker on drill cracks major theft ring
Kent Police’s Rural Task Force have hit the jackpot after a victim of repeated power tool thefts fitted trackers to their gear. When a stolen drill pinged on their device, officers teamed up with Thames Valley Police to raid a property in Swattenden on April 26, 2024. What they uncovered was colossal.
Huge cache of stolen goods found
The police search revealed over £1 million worth of suspected stolen items. This included a quad bike stolen from Ashford and six caravans whisked away from all over the UK – from Bristol to Wales, Southampton, Staffordshire, and Sussex.

Top brands recovered include DeWalt, Makita, Milwaukee, Bosch, Hitachi, and Stihl.
Police urge victims to come forward now
Officers want to reunite owners with their stolen gear. If you’ve lost a power tool recently, check the list and get in touch. To claim, email [email protected] with proof of purchase, serial numbers, and any unique marks. Include your crime reference or details of the theft if known. The window to claim closes at 11.59pm on Sunday 21 July 2024, so don’t delay.
Police warn the response might be large and ask claimants to be patient as they sort through the haul.
Seven arrested as investigation continues
Five men aged 18 to 44, a 19-year-old woman, and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of multiple theft offences. All have been bailed while inquiries proceed.
