Emiliano Sala’s Body Brought Ashore in Portland
The body recovered and brought to Portland Port today, Thursday 7 February 2019, has been formally identified as that of professional footballer Emiliano Sala, confirmed by HM Coroner for Dorset.

Tragic Plane Crash Under Investigation
The investigation continues into the tragic death, led by HM Coroner and Dorset Police. On Monday 21 January 2019, the plane carrying Sala and Ibbotson vanished from Air Traffic Control radar north of Guernsey while en route from Nantes to Cardiff.
Search and Rescue Efforts
Initial search and rescue teams failed to locate the aircraft or its occupants. However, later efforts by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) and privately funded search teams succeeded, using specialist equipment to find the crash site, recover the plane, and identify Emiliano Sala’s body.
