Two Years Inside for Local Thief’s Bizarre Crime Spree

Richard Jenkinson, 39, was locked up for two years at Teesside Crown Court yesterday for a string of crimes across the Cleveland area.

From Purse Snatch to Cheese Swipe

Jenkinson’s offences ranged from robbing a woman of £320 from her purse to stealing cheese from a Sainsbury’s store. The bizarre spate of crimes shocked locals.

Bail Breaches Land Him Back in Custody

Despite denying the robbery initially, Jenkinson was released on bail. But he repeatedly broke his bail conditions and was rearrested by officers in Darlington.

He eventually pleaded guilty and was sentenced to jail.

Police Praise Jail Sentence

“Jenkinson is a nuisance who not only blighted Darlington with his offending, but targeted places in the Cleveland area too,” said Inspector Dean Haythornthwaite of the Darlington Neighbourhood Police Team.

“I am pleased he has been sentenced to time in prison, which will give residents some respite from his offending.”
