Metropolitan Police Sergeant Leo Boateng is due in Westminster Magistrates Court on Friday, January 19, 2024. He faces a serious charge of rape linked to an alleged incident in November 2022 while he was off-duty.

Allegations Spark Internal Probe

The case has been handed to the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards. In line with procedure, Sgt. Boateng has been suspended pending the outcome of legal proceedings. The Met insists it is committed to a “fair and thorough investigation” into the accusation.

Controversy Hits Operation Verona

Sgt. Boateng was an active figure in Operation Verona, part of the Met’s Violent 123 Safe app initiative targeting violence and prioritising women’s safety. The news has sent ripples through the force as questions mount about the officer’s role in such a high-profile scheme.
