Paedophile Simon Harris Jailed After Victim Speaks Out
Simon Harris has finally been locked up for sexually assaulting a teenage girl—twice. The 56-year-old from Blackpool was caught after his victim bravely confided in her therapist, then police.
Two Years Behind Bars and a Decade on Register
Harris, residing on St Heliers Road, Blackpool, was sentenced on Tuesday, 28 February 2023. He received two years in prison for two counts of sexual assault. On top of that, he’s been slapped with a 10-year stint on the arrested-at-heathrow-airport-after-27-years-on-the-run/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sex Offenders’ Register.
Victim’s Courage Brings Justice
The victim came forward in March 2021, opening up to her therapist about the lasting trauma before talking to the police. She revealed the offences happened in Nottinghamshire, shedding light on Harris’s crimes.
Detective Constable Elizabeth Gray of Nottinghamshire Police praised the victim’s bravery and police persistence. She said:
“Harris must have thought he had got away with his offending but he underestimated the bravery of his victim and the determination of officers to bring him to justice.
“Like many victims of sexual abuse, this woman was scared about reporting what had happened to her and was worried about coming forward.
“In the end it was her courage that led to this outcome and I am full of admiration for her.
“I hope this case serves as encouragement to all other victims of abuse who may be worried about coming forward.
