Nottingham paedo locked up for abusing girl under 13
David Evans has been jailed for nine years after sexually abusing a young girl multiple times when she was under 13. The horrifying attacks happened over several years at a Nottingham address before the victim bravely reported him in May 2020.
Sick predator caught with indecent images
The 66-year-old Eastwood man was investigated and police found indecent images of children on his electronic devices. Evans denied all wrongdoing during police questioning and initially pleaded not guilty in September 2021. But in a last-minute U-turn just before his trial in October 2022, he admitted two counts of sexual assault against a child and possession of indecent images.
Evans, already on the sex offenders register for similar crimes, also confessed to breaching notification rules.
Judge labels Evans serious risk to girls
At Nottingham Crown Court on 5 January, Judge Stuart Rafferty QC condemned Evans as a “serious risk to young girls” and sentenced him to nine years behind bars. Evans will also serve four years extended licence and an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order on release.
Police praise victim’s courage
“Evans is a dangerous paedophile who knew exactly what he was doing when he chose to abuse a young vulnerable girl,” said Detective Constable Ashleigh Simpson.
“His actions caused unimaginable emotional damage that is still being felt today. The victim showed incredible bravery in coming forward and exposing him.
“Evans’ lies prolonged her suffering by forcing her to relive traumatic memories. His conviction puts him where he belongs – behind bars.”
