Mark Andrews Jailed for 15 Years Over Horrific Abuse
Mark Andrews has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars for abusing a child victim over several years in the 1980s and 1990s. The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, suffered brutal physical and sexual abuse at Andrews’ hands.
Brutal Abuse Covered Up by Lies
The court heard how Andrews repeatedly assaulted the victim, often leaving her with serious injuries. She was forced to lie to teachers who questioned the bruises and marks. Along with the physical violence, Andrews sexually assaulted her multiple times and eventually raped her.
Detective Praises Victim’s Courage
“This has been a complex and lengthy investigation into horrific physical and sexual abuse. I wish to commend the victim for her courage both in coming forward and her continued strength throughout the investigation,” said Detective Sergeant Alex Edwards of Sheffield’s Protecting Vulnerable People team.
He added that Andrews showed no remorse for his sickening crimes and used violence to control and terrorise the victim. The trauma will likely affect her for the rest of her life.
