Career Shoplifter Slapped with 12-Month Jail Term After £2,700 Theft Spree
Dean Earl, 40, went on a month-long stealing spree, pinching over £2,500 worth of goods from the same Wilko store in Carlton Square—three times in total. His crime run started on January 16 and hit again on March 16 and May 22.
Violent Theft at B&M Adds to Earl’s Rap Sheet
Not content with Wilko, Earl also swiped £200 worth of stuff and assaulted a customer at B&M in Netherfield’s Victoria Retail Park on April 17, 2022. His violent brazen behaviour didn’t go unnoticed.
Police Nabbed Earl After Latest Heist
Gedling South neighbourhood policing officers arrested Earl following his last offence. He was slapped with four theft charges plus common assault. On June 1, 2022, Earl pleaded guilty at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court and was sentenced to 12 months behind bars.
Police Blast Earl’s Reckless Theft Spree
“Earl is a prolific shoplifter who has consistently shown no regard for the law by repeatedly stealing,” said Nottinghamshire Police Sergeant Rebecca O’Connor.
“His persistent targeting of the same store shows blatant disregard for the consequences. Retail crime isn’t victimless and hits livelihoods hard.”
“Thanks to our officers’ tireless work, Earl was brought to justice. He’s now received a custodial sentence, which is necessary. There’s no place in society for these actions, and I hope he reflects while inside.”
