Jordan Campbell Jailed for Rape and Strangulation in Southampton
Jordan Thomas Campbell, 30, was sentenced on Thursday 4 May after being found guilty of rape and intentional strangulation at Southampton Crown Court. The verdict followed his trial on 27 February 2023.
Friend Turns Victim: Harrowing Attack at Campbell’s Home
Campbell and the victim knew each other. On the evening of Friday 16 September, the woman came to Campbell’s aid after spotting him injured in Southampton. Concerned for his welfare, she went with him to his home.
But as she tried to leave, Campbell reportedly turned violent. He became verbally aggressive before assaulting and intentionally strangling her. The horrific attack culminated with Campbell raping her inside the property.
The victim suffered bruises to her face, neck, and chest during the assault.
Days of Harassment Follow Attack
Campbell didn’t stop there. Between 17 and 22 September 2022, he bombarded the victim with messages, videos, voice notes, and calls, continuing his campaign of harassment.
Campbell, from Westridge Road, Southampton, was arrested and charged with rape, intentional strangulation, controlling and coercive behaviour, and harassment.
Victim Speaks Out: Life Shattered
“The incident made me feel like I lost control of who I am. Any dignity I had was gone,” the victim said in a statement. “I no longer feel normal, I don’t feel like myself. It affects how I feel every day. I cannot go on with my life.”
