Brutal Ex-Boyfriend Jailed for Choking and Hair-Bashing Attack
Benjamin Evetts, 27, landed a hefty two-and-a-half-year jail sentence at Southampton Crown Court yesterday (4 August). The Winchester inmate pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm and criminal damage under £5,000.
Shocking June Assault Caught on Neighbour’s Call
On June 15, Evetts rocked up at his ex-partner’s flat and immediately turned violent. He shoved her over, knelt on her while choking her with his thumb pressed to her windpipe, leaving her gasping for air.
He then snatched her phone away, blocking her from calling the cops. After storming off for 45 minutes, he came back to trash the place and break back inside.
Grotesque Violence: Head-Bashing and Spitting
The rampage didn’t stop there. Evetts grabbed her throat again, slammed her head against the wall by her hair, and spat at her in a vile display of brutality.
Thanks to a quick-thinking neighbour’s call, police arrived and arrested Evetts near the scene soon after.
Police Warn: Domestic Abusers Will Be Caught
“Evetts’ actions and behaviour were appalling,” said PC Romany Cushing, lead investigator. “We will relentlessly pursue perpetrators to ensure they face justice for any form of domestic abuse or assault.” “I hope this outcome encourages any victims of domestic abuse to come forward and assures you that your allegations will be taken seriously.”
If you’re a victim or witness to abuse, contact police on 101, report online, or give anonymous tips to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111 or via their website.
