Baseball Bat Attack Outside Southampton Pub Lands Man Behind Bars
Lewis Kerby, 27, from Bursledon, was jailed for nearly three years after a savage assault outside the Robin Hood pub in Southampton. The violent attack happened just after midnight on 19 August, following a row that spilled onto the street.
Brutal Blow Leaves Victim with Metal Plate in Head
The victim, a man in his 30s, was trying to help his brother when Kerby struck him over the head with a baseball bat. The horrific blow caused a skull fracture requiring surgery. The man now carries a large scar and a metal plate in his head.
Swift Justice After Shocking Pub Violence
Kerby pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon on 25 October. On 22 November, Southampton Crown Court sentenced him to 32 months in prison.
“This was a serious incident witnessed by many people where the victim was brutally assaulted,” said DC Hayley Channell from Western Investigations.
“One of our priorities in Southampton is keeping people safe in and around our pubs, bars and clubs. We work closely with door staff, venues and the city council to prevent incidents like this. When they happen, offenders can expect a swift response and to be brought to justice.”
