Brick-Throwing Boozer Escapes Jail Despite Assaulting Cops

Drunken Rampage in Southampton

Mark Peter Johnson, 37, went on a violent spree, hurling bricks and large chunks of concrete at police officers in Shirley, Southampton. The shocking attack happened on March 25 while Johnson was heavily intoxicated.

Mental Health Not an Excuse

Although concerns about Johnson’s mental health were raised, the court ruled it did not justify his actions. He pled guilty to two counts of assaulting an emergency worker by beating at Southampton Magistrates’ Court.

Suspended Jail Term and Penalties

Johnson, from Earls Road, was slapped with a four-month prison sentence, but it was suspended for two years. He must attend alcohol treatment sessions, cough up a £100 fine, and cover court costs.
