Storm Warning Hits Kent: Huge Waves Set to Batter Coast
Massive Waves and Flood Risk Today
A fierce storm warning has been issued for parts of Kent with huge, powerful waves smashing the foreshore. Strong onshore winds are driving the rough seas, pushing tides to their highest between 9:15am and 1:15pm today.
Flooding Threat on Roads and Low-Lying Areas
Flooding on roads and low-lying land is possible around the peak high tide at 11:15am. Locals and visitors are urged to stay alert as dangerous sea spray and large waves could cause damage and disruption.
DEFRA On High Alert
DEFRA’s incident response teams are on the scene, inspecting coastal defences near Jury’s Gap and Denge Marsh. They are monitoring conditions closely and ready to act if flooding worsens.
Stay Safe on the Coast
If you’re heading to beaches, promenades, or coastal footpaths, be extremely cautious. The storm’s wrath means conditions could turn perilous fast. Winds should ease by the late tide at 11:30pm, bringing some relief.
