Man Arrested for Assault and Police Attack in Chatham
Violent Evening on Longley Road
Stephen Wicks, 27, was snapped up by cops on Longley Road on Monday night, 12 October 2020, after reports a woman was assaulted nearby.
Turned on Police with Punches
While in custody, Wicks allegedly launched a flurry of punches at two officers trying to restrain him. All three victims – the woman and the two cops – suffered facial injuries.
Facing Multiple Assault Charges
Wicks, from Luton Road, Chatham, now faces charges of assault by beating for the attack on the woman, plus two counts of actual bodily harm against the police officers.
Next Court Date Set
He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 14 October. Judges remanded him in custody to return to Maidstone Crown Court on 11 November.
